The world of technology and particularly in the information technology (IT) is very dynamic and currently there is a huge transformation in the way information systems work. Information systems are made up of more than just the computer systems and software or applications. Instead, it entails computer systems, the software and applications, the users as well as all the processes involved in the interpretation and sharing of the information. Information systems are shifting from the traditional personal computer set up to the cloud systems which have proven to be more secure, speedy, flexible and agile. According to Chang et al. (2015) cloud computing is the future of securing and utilizing information both on personal and corporate level.
Significant aspect of Business Information Systems
One of the concerns of business information systems is security and privacy. Every business wants to ensure that their system is secure from unauthorized access as well as exclusivity in terms of privacy to the company alone. One of the ways to ensure this is by working with computer based systems and more specifically, the use of cloud computing. With cloud computing, the information system is on multiple advantages. Nepal & Pathan (2014) illustrate this by saying that one of the main advantages that cloud computing offers to its users is security as well as privacy. With the help of the cloud and the relevant clouding environments, a company is able to secure its information system on a level that cannot easily be compromised.
Significance of cloud computing in my future career
The Cloud systems have changed the way people view information systems as well as how even manufacturers of computer devices design their devices. The future seem to be even brighter for cloud computing with more companies shifting their attention to cloud services by working with either private clouds or even external clouds. New companies are emerging that are willing to offer cloud services such as cloud brokerage, cloud marketing, cloud platforms and so on. In addition, the functionality of the cloud systems have led to introduction of new physical, virtual and even hybrid appliances which solely depend on cloud computing. According to Abramowiczet al. (2012) the future of business operations and particularly information management is primarily based on cloud computing as this is an innovation that allows the sharing of information globally and concurrently.
